Visiting National Student Application

1. The attached form has two sections. Section A is to be completed by the Applicant. Section B is to be completed by the (Applicants) Dean or the Dean's designated officer. Please note that our electives are offered in calendar month blocks beginning on the first day of each month and ending on the last day of same month. Approximately four weeks duration is the minimum period for elective rotation in one discipline. The maximum period for the elective is 8 weeks. A fresh application is needed for each four week rotation.

2. Section A and B of the application form must be completed and mailed to the address given in section 5. Applications must include mark sheets of all professional examinations written to date. Incomplete applications will not be processed.
(Photocopies should be cut in the size of application form)

3. Due to delays in the mail and processing time requirement, applications must reach the Electives Office three months prior to the month in which elective rotation is to commence.

4. The non-refundable application processing fee for electives rotation is Rs.500/-. The fee is payable through a bank draft in favour of Aga Khan University drawn on a bank in Karachi. When accepting our offer students will be required to pay registration fee of Rs. 1500/- which is non-refundable. Application will not be processed without the processing fee

6. The University hostels have non-airconditioned, single, furnished room accommodation with communal washroom and laundry facilities. The students pay for their living expenses in Pakistani currency. The room rent is *Rs. 3250 per month and food, which may be purchased from the cafeteria, may cost upto Rs. 250/- per day. Due to shortage of rooms, it is not always possible to get accommodation in the hostels. Requests for accommodation must accompany the application. * Subject to change

7. Aga Khan University Hospital is a State of The Art Hospital providing primary and tertiary health care. Students who are taken ill need to attend the Community Health Centre and see the Student Health Physician for advise. In case of emergencies you need to contact the Hospital Emergency Room. All expenses are borne by the student themselves.

8. Opportunities for electives are available in the following disciplines at Aga Khan University. Places are extremely limited in each discipline. Only those students who have successfully completed fourth year by writing third professional examinations may apply for Clinical Clerkships. Applicants should list their choices in order of priority on the attached application form.

Application dates and important deadlines:





Students will be notified of the University decision approx. 4 weeks before the commencement of the requested elective rotation.

At the conclusion of the 4 week elective or the rotation, concerned faculty will evaluate students on the prescribed Performa.
